Cross vine in bloom

This our crossvine on our fence. It is evergreen, and blooms heavily in the spring and off-and-on during the summer and fall. It is an absolute hummingbird magnet, and is covering a very unattractive but necessary wire fence.
It may look like a turmpet vine, but isn't nearly as invasive and rampant!

Licenter, this vine is about seven years old. It went through a drought two years ago, and is just now really recovering. The one we had in town threw off starts from the roots, and I'm hoping this one will also. If not this year, maybe next we'll get baby cross vines.

It looks absolutely beautiful! I love the color of its flowers. It's so vivid! I've always had a soft spot for vine plants:)
