I brought 3 young ponytail grasses early this year and it's just been cut down for winter but in the process of being in full bloom...the seeds from it have been drifting along the edge of the drive in the gravel and small seeds have set.

Sure, just cut the seed heads sooner. Non-viable seeds cannot sprout. But that would kind of defeat the purpose of the grass. Might try a vacuum cleaner.

Hi Chuck the seeds are in the white part, so really its cutting them out when I see them develop but like you say it does defeat the purpose of the grass and it's beauty but nice one about an hoover...great tip (y)

:D! Or chop off the seeds and that might defeat the purpose of buying the plant! LOL! You can't win. When you haven't got it, it's an objet de désire! Ahhhh! When you've got it, it becomes a thug! Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

Ponytail Palm (Beaucarnea recurvata)

Native to the forests of Belize, Guatemala, and southeastern Mexico, the Ponytail Palm (Beaucarnea recurvata) can be grown indoors or outdoors in most parts of the world. It is also known as Elephant Foot Tree for its swollen caudex (stem base) that resembles an elephant’s foot. The Ponytail Palm makes for an excellent ornamental accent in any location because of its interesting form and striking appearance. It can grow to be quite large outdoors, up to 30 feet, but it doesn’t reach higher than 6 feet indoors. As these plants are exceptionally slow growers, gardeners are unlikely to see the plant reach its ultimate height within a few years.

Here is comprehensive take taking guide:
