Start Zinnias indoors around Mar. 1st. Transplant in May. Zinnias are pretty easy to start as seeds. Just use seed-starting soil and be sure to keep seedlings/plants' soil moist but never wet. Be sure and follow planting depth instructions to the letter.

When you transplant, be sure and add some worm castings and maybe even lobster/crab shell to the soil. Compost, of course, is terrific "food" for any flowering plants.

My absolute favorite Zinnia is "Zowie Yellow Flame." The prettiest flowers EVER.

Your plant zone is 6b, but keep in mind that there can be little microclimates, according to where you are, in any zone. You may have neighbors a mile away who can grow things that don't thrive in your neighborhood. Climate Change is playing Hell with gardens now. Messing with flowering times, etc.

Make it easy on yourself. Wait until they are on sale in the garden/ plant shops buy a couple of trays and plant them up. Cheap enough

Zinnias are generally pretty easy to grow since they thrive in warm weather and full sun. You’ll want to check your hardiness zone to confirm, but they typically do well in zones 3-10. I’ve found them to be low-maintenance and great for brightening up any garden. If you need some inspiration or want to order flowers for a special touch, eflorist is a great option to explore.

I grow them here in East Texas through the scorching summers...they are terrific butterfly attractors.

Absolutely not. I can't grow them in zone 9a either. You have to be in South florida to grow mangos.
