A problem with an indoor plant

Yesterday, my friend sent me a picture of his plant but unfortunately we did not know what the type and the species of the plant and all we know is that it is suffering from a disease.

Here are some pics that may help you identify the species of the plant (if possible) and the disease.

It is not a disease. It is a scale insect infestation. It appears that the plant has both armored and soft scale. The remedy is numerous sprayings of Neem Oil over the entire plant

It's a Japanese Aucuba or Gold-dust Plant, Aucuba japonica.

To be honest I am not sure...they look similar but not that much.
