Dinner for four adults, and three children: Rib roast with gravy blended from well cooked vegetable for starch for making gravy.Sliced cucumbers, sliced tomatoes,beets, beet greens, carrots, potatoes. Cool barley tea. Vegetables were steamed. Produce fresh harvested from the garden.

The Mother , my daughter, goes junk food crazy when in Canada. They don't get much of it in Japan. One roast beef dinner was cooked and they liked it.

My wife, very much unlike my deeply southeastern self, came from the northeastern USA. It turns out that local neighbors originated a recipe later purchased for commercial production of a confection known as Toll House Cookies. I enjoy her dessert surprises. I actually get custom textured chocolate chip cookies. I suffer through it all. Every. Chewy. Crunchy. Chocolate. Bit. With a hint of butter and light brown sugar of course.
