The Desert Is Blooming

The desert is alive and in bloom. This year they are considering a Super Bloom due to the high volume of rain (respectively) the desert received this winter. I'll be back down in a week and a half to spend a few days

@Greenhorn thank you so much for sharing your lovely photos with us and you even have a most interesting caterpillar in the group. Which desert is this? Any bloomin' cacti? maybe in April?

Hi Beverly I'm glad you like the pictures. It's Anza Borrego park in Southern California. We did see a few cactus booming but not many. I'm hoping - expecting more to be blooming when I go back in a couple weeks. It's a sphinx moth caterpillar and they are the favorite of migrating (Argentina to Canada) Swainson's hawks.

It's hard to believe, if look at photo # 1, that several thousand seeds are sleeping and waiting for their hour. Wonderful!
