The Desert Is Blooming

The desert is alive and in bloom. This year they are considering a Super Bloom due to the high volume of rain (respectively) the desert received this winter. I'll be back down in a week and a half to spend a few days :)

Hi Beverly I'm glad you like the pictures. It's Anza Borrego park in Southern California. We did see a few cactus booming but not many. I'm hoping - expecting more to be blooming when I go back in a couple weeks. It's a sphinx moth caterpillar and they are the favorite of migrating (Argentina to Canada) Swainson's hawks.

It's hard to believe, if look at photo # 1, that several thousand seeds are sleeping and waiting for their hour. Wonderful! (y)
