Who's pooping is likely your neighbors' cats. I grow Anise and went it gets dried and prickly, I layer it atop the soil of my potted plants. The neighbors' roaming killer cats hated it that they could no longer taint my potting soil with their feces.

Roadrunner is correct. "An article by the Indiana Business Journal said more castings appear on the surface in the spring when the soil is waterlogged, which likely explains why they've shown up this week after so much rain. Sept. 2023"

The cat makes perfect sense, dug in to poop.

I guess you guys are right about the worms, seems to be a problem for golf courses. Still hard to believe, one worm made all that, each pile is like a Reese peanut butter cup, maybe half one. Would love to see these worms in action, lol.
