Recently cut a leggy aglaonema (cutting is happily rooting) and I’ve got her stump hanging out in her own pot in case she feels like growing again. I know that it had some prior over watering and I’m more careful and methodical about that now. I cut back some of the root (maybe I should be cutting more?) but what on earth are these little bulbs pushing their way out of the trunk? Is that normal?

In case any plant newbies come across these aliens like I did last year when I began my pandemic/isolation-induced preoccupation with my houseplants--they are rhizomes. The coloring on these looked a little scary so I was worried they were rotten, but I put them in soil and watered them once a week for a couple of months just as an experiment and they grew new plants!
