Just checking in. I have a bunch of seeds in a bin that I'm waiting for. Zero sign of germination yet. I put them in there back around the end of January. So far zero sprouting. What do you think?

They are London Plain, Japanese Maple and Shantung Maple. I bought them all on ebay. In the past I've bought sunflower seeds on ebay and they've done pretty well. High rate of growth. But no luck yet with these trees :/

I'm hoping to get 3 of the japanese maples, three of the shantang maples and as many of the london planes as will grow.

That doesn't sound hopeful, but some things can take a long time and I am not up on trees. Might be worth getting a cheap heat mat to go under it. The other thing you could try is a couple of weeks in the cool tray in the bottom of the fridge, some things need a 'winter' cold spell before they will germinate, and even ones that don't 'need' it can do better for it sometimes, I noticed the man who was using bags with tissue to germinate alternated his box of bags a fortnight in a fortnight out of the fridge.

Did you stratify the maple seeds? If not they won't germinate. Are the London Plain seeds in bright indirect warm light? If not they won't germinate either. Also, London Plain seeds have a natural reduced seed germination rate. So, at this late date I would start over.

I didn't think of light, should have, I am planting peppers, and it's a fairly common requirement. Good to have someone who knows rather than half educated guesses.

Some seeds definitely have a delayed germination time. I have just found some Paeony seedlings from a 2 years ago sowing.
