Damaged cucumber plant

I received some cucumber plants in the post, one being badly damaged. I've planted this and have received a variety of opinions from 'it will regrow' to 'bin it now'. Anyone any views on this please?

I would leave it as is, and wait to see if it will sprout new leaves. There is nothing to lose.

Agreed. It's unlikely to be as productive but it's not dead yet.

Thanks for the replies. Suttons are sending me a new plant but it won't arrive until mid-June so I'll see what happens. It looks quite healthy.

It's sprouting something. Is it likely to produce cucumbers though:

I believe it will, there is no reason not to.
To be more realistic, there are hundreds things that can go wrong (pests, disease , etc..).
Just don't stress her alot, and everything will be ok.

Yes, it will produce. A cucumber vine will have numerous side vines that grow from the central vine and sometimes a variety will have numerous "central" vines that side vines will grow from. The only thing bad is that this particular plant may be delayed for a week or two from setting fruit.
