Today, after shopping my wife and I visited our local garden centre, we often pop in and have a look at all the things we like and muse at the prices they seem to be able to charge. But today we were horrified, many of the staff were clearing shelves for restocking with Christmas goods, surely they can be a little more creative, what about all the things we gardeners do and need in Autumn, bulbs, bare root trees, new lawns from seed, composting etc etc the list goes on, but Christmas surely not yet. TWO WORDS baaa humbug.

I remember as a kid we never saw anything "Christmassy" in stores until AFTER Thanksgiving (end of November). Now, they "start" the season so early, the holidays almost seem anticlimactic, and most are GLAD when they are over. It is a shame!
