I live in South Carolina. Can you suggest the hardiest perennial that can handle poor drainage clay soil, hot, humid and full sun? Thanks

In South Carolina, for hardy perennials suited to poor drainage clay soil, hot, humid conditions, and full sun, consider:

  1. Daylilies (Hemerocallis) Very adaptable and thrive in tough conditions.
  2. Coneflowers (Echinacea Tolerant to heat, humidity, and poor soil.
  3. Black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia) Drought and clay tolerant, loves full sun.
  4. Swamp milkweed (Asclepias incarnata) Ideal for wet, clay soils and attracts butterflies.
  5. Joe-Pye weed (Eutrochium) Thrives in moist, clay soils and full sun.
Some fun choices!
