The strangest thing happened a few weeks back when I noticed that at one section of my yard there were two good sized summer squash growing and I didn't plant them! I have absolutley NO summer squash in my garden and I wonder if seeds from someone else's yard blew into my yard and took root. I couldn't believe it. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Squash seeds can stay dormant in the soil for quite some time. The fact there's 2 of them suggests they might have come from compost though.

Unlikely that 2 seeds would blow in and land next to each other :D

I had a field that had previously been used to farm Courgettes, some 10 years before. I'd regularly get plants coming up when I disturbed the soil.:)

I think like Zigs has said, the chance of two seeds blown by the wind, landing next to each other is pretty remote, but not altogether impossible, however, there is also the possibility, that they could have been dropped by birds as well:D

Zigs is very right in what he says about squash and zucchini/courgette seeds staying dormant in the soil for quite some time, once you've planted them - they never seem to stop coming up, however careful you are in removing all traces of them each season - but I wouldn't regard this as bonus, as from my experience the squash or zucchini from the plants that arrive in this manner - don't taste very good and its much better to plant fresh ones every year.

Thought I had a vivid imagination :D but you beat me with this one - like it, really made laugh, especially as I have, an extremely vivid picture in my mind as to just what that may look like

:D

Imagine how disapointed it would have been when it found out what was on the inside.

Some seeds are very resilient and can give you a huge surprise! My mom threw melon seeds in the back of her house, thinking that they will become compost. Instead, she ended up with melons. They are super delicious too :)
