Jane Magnolia

I live in zone 8b and a couple of months ago I planted a Jane Magnolia tree in my backyard. It was doing fine but lately some leaves look sick and are turning brown and crunchy.
Why can this be?
It still shows new growth though. Also, It has been raining a lot, could this be the reason?

This may have just been incidental stress damage. The plant was still establishing itself and its root system may not have found a point of equilibrium yet. A follow-up account would be wonderful, if possible.

Magnolia x 'Jane' is a delightful deciduous magnolia with tepals that are medium pink on the exterior and white within. It resembles a a Saucer Magnolia (M. x soulangeana) but the parentage is different: M. liliiflora 'Reflorescens' X M. stellata 'Waterlily'

A friend and I were at Home Depot. Near the front entrance of the building were some Jane Magnolias. These had buds.
