Ixia is a genus of common plants native to South Africa from the family Iridaceae.
Some distinctive traits include sword-like leaves and long wiry stems with star-shaped flowers.

You've inspired me, @LouisFerdinand, to try these in my new pollinator attractor gardens. I think they will be a perennial here...fascinating flower. Thanks for posting.

Starting with a small Ixia bed of about 15 plants. The weather seems to be warm enough now for them to get going soon. It will be interesting to watch them and see what happens. I hope they will be a perennial here.
