Has anyone ever used a broadfork?

I have a handful of 50sqft little garden beds. I used a shovel to lightly dig in compost and amendments. And to break up this hard ass clay.

This broadfork looks like it could be very handy. But they're like $200. I wanted to ask around and see how helpful they are.

I have HAC as well. You can use a variety of tools on it when wet and then keep it broken up. I borrowed a broadfork once and that was the main problem, penetration when dry. And manual labor of course. I extended the garden this year and have unbroken soil out there that I have no intentions of touching until after about a month of rainy season goes by.
