I recently had a tree removed and the stump was ground.

Tried to use it as mulch when I had other trees removed a couple years ago and it did hold moisture to well.

Is there any gardening use for this? My soil is mostly sand so its mixed with the wood.

IF you remove all the stump grindings you will end up with a large hole there. Leave them and let them fill the stump hole and decompose back into the place the stump was. The grinding will leave a hump for a while and then sink back to where the level ground was.
