I have a reasonable size container, can I fill it with half ericaceous soil and half regular compost, in order to satisfy the needs of different types of plants?

Thank you!

No. It would be like trying to have your cake and eat it too. Give each group of plants the compost they need for optimum results. What you suggest would be a false economy.

Thanks for replying. Sorry, I didn’t explain myself very well. Can I fill one side of the container entirely with ericaceous soil and plant the ericaceous plants that side and fill the other side of the container with regular compost and plant bulbs etc... there? Thank you

In the long term that won`t work either as one side will affect the other when watered. Stick to one compost in one pot.
