Cinder blocks for compost

this is the 2nd year i`ve been using cement blocks for my compost i have 2 that measure 4x4 - anybody else use cement

4 feet x 4 feet? I can tell you masonry rocks because it can hold water and not rot while handling the hits by shovels rakes and what have you. I just pile mine though.

A compost pile requires air circulation and moisture and needs to be at least 3' in all directions. As long as you don't pack the space too tightly and you turn it often (once every 3-4 weeks) the cinder blocks should work okay. There are better containment methods of course but we all use what we have at our disposal.
