Even in the dead of summer in the midst of an enduring heat way, veggies put on a show of upcoming attractions to entice the pollinators. Most of these blooms are fleeting lasting only the morning "cool" which is already 83 deg F.
I know you see a lot of beautiful pictures of flowers and mine pale in comparison but take a look at the hot summer flowers of Meadowlark's garden. You just may see something you have never seen before:
Starting with second generation beans for soil building:
The sweet potato blooms only last the morning.
Next up the bountiful cantaloupe:
Not to be outdone the straight 8 cucumber which continues to produce quality fruit even at 100 deg.
Here's one you probably don't recognize the Jicama. Careful the flower and beans are poisonous.
One of the great producers in summer is the Okra but the flowers are fleeting
Big rock pile demonstration peas in their second generation of soil building
Peppers doing what some say can't be done in 100 deg...blooming
Another one you may not have seen before and aptly named the Sunchoke
Tomatoes continue to bloom but they aren't setting fruit in this heat:
Last but certainly not least, the watermelon blooms turn into fabulous eating fruit all summer:
I can't end without showing the guardians of the crop: Sunflowers and bees
