Bit of dead hedging going on.

This is the town where I live now.

I'm a little envious of all your "wilderness," though I wouldn't give up my city life for anything. It would be nice though, to have some open space to go to with a lot of nature and no people. Just some peace and quiet (no big/dangerous animals, lol).

It's a novelty living in town at the moment, pubs and shops right outside the door, but it's not far to go to get into the countryside

It's good to see the traditional hedging skills are still with us Zigs, I 'd much rather look at that than a fence.

There's a lot of hedge laying around here too

A dead hedge is a really good stock proof hedge, will even keep pigs in, but I can't quite see where they're going with this one, unless its just a practice run.

It's certainly a pretty area and well worth preserving. Looking at one of the pictures on the link there is another similar hedge. I'm wondering looking at your picture above whether it's to divert access, the ground in the area in front of the hedge is quite bare so perhaps it's been laid to let the area recover.

I've been looking at living hedges, but in the city we don't always have time to wait for them to grow. Putting in boxwood would certainly be less expensive than a fence, but while I wait for it to fill in, people will still be walking their dogs on my front lawn.

Lovely photos as usual zigs and especially like the one near the top with carpet of wildflowers underneath the trees - as it looks just like an idyllic spot to sit and enjoy being surrounded by everything bursting into to life again after the long hard winter and of course the ones of the cows - who I think are super cute

Away from the madding crowd was our choice too. There are so many advantages living in a semi rural town.
