There is no "off season" for kale in UK.
It is picked as baby leaf for salads in the summer, but hardy enough to survive our relatively mild winters.

Kale is truly an among good food. Very easy to grow. It juices well, I have to buy a cooking pot, since the one I have developed a leak. Our growing season is four months then ice and snow.

I don't grow many brassicas in the summer because they like all but the worst of the UK winter, & I tend to gorge on them then.
I can go and pick some seakale from the beach, in the summer, so I don't bother to grow it. Just a few cabbages, good for coleslaw, and calabrese.
