Eight Brussels Spouts were purchased and planted. The type is Jade Cross a perfect hybrid. The only downside is the presence of the white cabbage butterfly. I use salt and water to discourage. The little cabbages are perfect in shape. I stake since the stalks sometime bend due to the heavy cabbages. The planting area is heavily mulched.

Try interplanting your sprouts with a non-brassica, (maybe kettuce?) as cabbage white have to land on three brassica leaves in succession before they'll lay eggs.
If that sequence is interrupted, it starts again.
