An 8 square foot area was planted with Walla Walla Onion Seed using the board method. The onion grows to about softball size and is not hot. Makes nice raw material for sandwiches.

Wouldn't grow too many though, as it won't keep through the winter.
That's not to say don't grow them; their equivalent here is probably "Ailsa Craig", for size and mild sweetness, & I grow ~ 2 dozen a year for late summer/autumn salads and sandwiches.
