This beautiful perennial grows a bit larger every year.The flowers last a few days and are a beautiful deep red. It is expensive to purchase. Best propagated from a root. They are very slow growing in my area. The vegetation disappears completely during the Summer.

If they set seed, then sow it fresh and leave exposed to the elements for best germination. we have one which I grew from seed. It has not flowered yet though.

I had plenty of seed one year and tried growing in buried pots. Nothing germinated. I must say I did dry the seeds which was probably a mistake. I will try again this year. I have never seen the plant in commercial greenhouses in my area.
