A row of Okra (Jambalaya hybrid) seeds were planted. Okra grows well depending upon how hot the Summer is in Zone 5. This year it should do well. The mulch was removed and the seeds placed in the soil. The board was placed on top to be removed when germination occurs. Spacing should be around ten inches.

I am impressed! Ontario is about the most northerly I've ever seen okra grow.

I like the board idea. I am hopefully going to get my okra planted this year in a raised bed with new soil. I've had a problem with verticillium and my okra (as well as my eggplant) and am planning on getting new soil in the beds to start afresh. That way, when the verticillium gets in there (which it always does) I can solarize the infected bed without having to retire my whole garden. I'm hoping it works.
