@Fernsdaddy that's a pity.

We have been opening our garden for over 10 years and get hundreds of people through the door each day we open. We've never had any damage to the garden nor any sign of people taking cuttings. We sell at least a thousand plants over the weekend, all propagated by Mrs Bootsy, and if people want cuttings they always come and ask. If it's possible, we then give them to them.

A couple of years ago one of our UK forum members was wanting to make a very long Euonymous hedge so we let him take a couple of thousand cuttings. That's not a problem because we didn't give some of our plants their annual cut before opening the garden and he came along early and cut and shaped them for us. He went away with all the cuttings.

We regularly get people, throughout the year, asking for cuttings of plants and we're always happy to give them. Sometimes, if we have an abundance of the plants that they want cuttings of we just dig up a plant for them. We know that if we want cuttings from any of their plants then they are always willing to give them.

Whilst out walking in our area, or in any other part of the country, we may see a plant that we like so we knock on the person's door and ask for cuttings. We've never been refused and we keep plastic bags in the car just for that purpose.

Zigs put up a short video of our garden last year and I've added a few photos - on this thread. (y)
