There were avalanches going on all around the mountain at various times. Our side of the mountain only had 2 big ones during the year. This was the first, and the first time i have seen the garden turn to gray. It was not more than a millimeter or 2 or 3, but it changed the entire garden to gray. I stood outside and watched and remembered i should have a wet cotton cloth covering my nose and mouth (should have had goggles too, but i didn't bother with them). The ash was of a consistency that didn't lightly blow or wash away. It just stuck there, water made things worse. I brushed some leaves, but mostly the elements took care of things and the plants never complained.
