Hopefully everyone has a safe and wonderful July 4 holiday! It's my best friend's 6th wedding anniversary so we're having a big cook-out and party, then going to watch fireworks at a stadium downtown.

And because it's relevant (and an interesting read actually - no offense to our friends across the pond!) here's the text of the original Declaration of Independence.

Happy 4th to you as well. It is a bug party here in the US complete with lots of delicious food and fireworks. By 11pm tonight, the air and sky will be filled with firework smoke and debris and it will look like we all survived a war to speak, but without the damage or loss of life (well that is to say if people do not do stupid things like being careless with their fireworks ). Our event will be a little more toned down this year because it has been very dry and there is heightened risk of fire in the area. No Roman candles or anything that could possibly ignite the trees.

Yes indeed people can get stupid with fireworks and big ones are legal here, which I hate. I honestly think they ought to be restricted to the big professionally-run shows.
Thankfully my current dogs don't mind thunder or fireworks but I used to have one that shook and panted and drooled and was just miserable with it.
Well, I'm off to eat too much!

I hope you guys had a lot of fun, we had a really nice meal on 4th of July. I had really great time Terrible for the diet, but truly wonderful for the soul, lol.

and happy 4th to you all. did not bring my "work" lab top in to my house over my long 3 days off work. Spent most time in my gardens etc, cleaning house, doing nothing, and sipping wine. did have my cell for facebook. Enjoyed the company of my cats and husband.

We shot off a lot of fireworks and drank plenty of cocktails. The food was super yummy too, and we got to nibble on fresh picked cherries. The only bad thing that happened that night was that someone in the area decided to light off something that sounded like a bomb or stick of dynamite, shook the whole neighborhood!
