What's popping up in my yard?

Noticed these as I was weeding the yard, never seen them before. They are very hard to pull out of the ground. Any ideas? Thanks!

To me they look like Cotoneaster seedlings. They can be groundcovers to very large shrubs depending on species. Look around your neighborhood for plants that look like them only bigger. They produce lots of red berries that birds LOVE and the seeds get pooped out all over the place. They can be quite invasive.

I used iNaturalist's ID system and the result said it was likely in the genus Cotoneaster and the top suggestion was cotoneaster pannosus.
