UK court rules ‘ethical veganism’ beliefs must be protected in law

Big win for 'ethical vegans' in UK work tribunal
British workers who practice “ethical veganism” have secured a big win before an employment tribunal

British workers who practice “ethical veganism” to protect animals secured a big win in an employment tribunal when a judge ruled Friday that they are entitled to legal protection from job discrimination.

The judge said that because ethical veganism is a philosophical belief, its adherents are covered by the U.K.'s anti-discrimination law, the 2010 Equality Act.

The comment section on the vid is explosive. Looks like the other side of the pond would like to dump this guy someplace far far away. Militants push to far and leftist judges have no backbone to bring the circus to an end.

Vegan is mostly a "menu choice" with additional other fads, nothing more.

But some do like to bang on about the "hobby." If it causes disruption in the workplace, they can be disciplined but only for the disruption if it affects others or productivity.

I agree they shouldn't be discriminated against for just wanting to be "different."

As for the "bangin' on," it reminded me of this.

The UK is very liberal and is taken over by militant vocal liberals. Sometimes, they have a point, sometimes not.

Veganism is not a religion, just a belief, like any cult. I read in the papers that a man accused a blind man of enslaving his guide dog! Do you think this is reasonable? I would like to blindfold this eejit and let him bump into some text-reading mobile phone owners crossing the road. Divisions like this is like splitting hairs .. tend to cause offences and complaints and can be litigative. Each to his/her own and we should be allowed choice, the business of people being sued for using the wrong pronoun or some singer wants to change our language because he's bi, tran, or pan .. Lordy, I'm so confused. I don't dislike them, but the world is a touchy place full of snowflakes who take offences when none is intended!

why would any government have to get involved with what a person eats. to me that is a form of Socialism. If anything, look at the Obesity rate and push better education regarding nutrition and exercise. Obesity causes a variety of acute and chronic health care issues that tax the health care system.

I think it's cruel for parents to choose veganism for their kids. Kids have not developped their own proper judgement and parents follow their own belief to impose this practice on them. It's like getting your children to be baptised or confirmed before they can think properly. How is this fair?

I get that. But I can also feel for the parent that has made that their in home choice to not cook certain things in their home. How can they cook meat for their kids in the home when they the parent find it revolting to do that.
