Grow tent

Hello, growing 8 romas in a 4x8 grow tent... seems they recommend 5 gallon bags but seems an awful lot of wasted floor space.

So a 4x8 w 8 x 5 gallon bags... why not fill the extra floor space, seems one could do 8 x 30 gallon bags almost. Is it just to keep them short, what about determinate tomatoes that are already short, wouldn't they just benefit from the extra dirt?

I grow my toms in builder's buckets, about three gallons I think, and they do pretty well, so I am not sure that they will get much from the extra. I find what I fill them with makes more difference, I use a good rich mixture of compost and manure,
