Aquaponics

So I was looking into hydroponically growing plants, when I stumbled into something else:Aquaponics. After a little reading and research, I think Im going to set up some sort of aquaponics system come summer. Does anyone have experience with this? Curious about the type of vegetable grown, fish used, size of the operation, etc and also any pointers

I've got friends who have done tomatoes and peppers in their bog but no root vegetables, they are too easily contaminated from fish poop.
