Finally a flower! This thing has shot up in the last week now that we are finally getting some rain. The fence is 5' so I'm thinking my sunflower is well over 7' now.

To everyone who has entered the competition - the deadline to submit the height with a photo of you with your sunflower is 9th September 2016. One week to go!

I hope the sunflower doesn't have to be growing straight up to qualify. Mine has just one giant mutant flower and no other buds, and would be falling over under the weight of the flower if it weren't for the adjacent fence. Best I can tell it's close to 8' tall now. It enjoyed all our recent rain.
(the one in the background is a separate sunflower plant, also just a singleton flower.)

Your 8'footer Mutant Sunflowe looks like it has had one too many Harvey Wall Bangers! Maybe enjoyed more liquid than the recent rain you mentioned .

Still not found a tape, but I know i'm 7 foot 6 inches stretched out, and the sunflower goes a good foot past my fingertips so i'm guessing 8 foot 6 inches.
