About midway through summer my purple phlox always develops a type of white powdery substance on it's leaves. It doesn't seem to effect the plant any, but the appearance is quite ugly. I always just assume that it is some type of fungus. Has anyone else ever had this happen to their phlox and if so what is it and how do you get rid of it?

I would assume you are right. Sounds like a plant fungus. You should spray the affected area and any near by plants with an anti-fugal treatment to eradicate the infection.
