Three seasons ago I started making raised beds with builder stud type kiln dried 2x stock and galvanized corrugated sheets. I also used this for a rabbit fence around my garden. At the time I used a semi transparent deck sealer that acted like a paint (coat the outside of the wood) not a penetrating sealer. The deck sealer paint is flaking off the first set of garden beds now. And I have some new beds and fence that have never been painted.
Last year I also built about 150 feet of fence with pressure treated 2x stock.
Can anyone recommend a penetrating oil or other good sealer to protect and preserve this wood? The kiln dried wood of the garden beds is not in ground contact.
To my old fashioned mind I like the idea of a penetrating oil to soak into the wood rather than something like a paint that only sits on top of the wood surface. I am open to hearing options.
