:( No other go. Had to deep prune our bottle brush tree (Callistemon) as it was a threat to our compound wall. It was also jutting out quite a bit blocking the road.

Looks a bit brutal but I did the same to the Willow behind the caravan last year, its come back lovely and green now

It is a lovely flower, but if you have to prune it for the good of the gate, then it must go :)

Sometimes pruning is necessary:(
I had to do the same with my biggest and oldest minature rose. Fortunately, it came back lovely:)

It's a shame when we have to cut back something that's growing so well. Let's hope the Callistemon makes a good recovery Grouie. :)

It doesn't take long for Willow to bounce back does it Zigs?

Aw sorry you had to prune it :( But sometimes, lkike in this case it was very necessary. My mom had to do the same with the tree that was outside the house, the tree was never the same but that is exactly what she wanted.

It will come back, although the shape will take awhile to become something nice. We've done the same to some here for other reasons. 10 to 15 years later they look pretty good.
