Hey I registered here for this question but im sure ill use this site again. I have a young elephant ear my mom gifted me about a month ago and it has double in size since i repotted it but its getting so tall and the stalks and leafs are very light in color compared to what it should be. The stalks arnt strong enough to support the weight and i know i should stake it but can i cut it in a way so it gets bushier and can give the stalks a chance to strengthen? Please help. It also cannot for the lofe of it keep more than 2 leaves at a time. Im going put it in a deeper pot and buring the stem more soon.

Am not sure exactly what type of plant this is by the common name. Some elephant ears are bulbs, some plant types. Until you have more information proceed with caution.

From your description of the plant I would say it is not getting nearly enough light. long leggy growth with lighter leaves is usually an indication of not enough light. Move it closer to a window but not directly in the window because it will burn.
