Yellow & shriveling leaves from the bottom up

Those plants look starved of nutrients to me. They need to be in the ground with lots of organic stuff dug into the soil - that is where the answer is. It`s what goes on underneath the ground that counts - plants are just like us, they cant`t live on fresh air.
Those brassicas need lots of space, as they want to grow nice and big.

Yeah when the bottom leaves go yellow and start to die it's a clear indication that your plant isn't getting the nutrients it needs and most likely at the microscopic level your soils missing predators that make the nutrient available to your plant. I'd buy or make some biologically active compost. You might be able to find someone at your local organic co-op that can look at your soil and compost under the microscope and make sure it's got all the right biology.
