Good day everyone,

I have a Blue Spruce on my garden, and I saw that some of its branches getting yellow. In my area, winter is coming. Do you think this is normal? If you have any advice I'd appreciate.

Thank you in advance.

Mine will do that, and drop them. Just the old ones here and there. And we do get dry, and hot, so some years more than others.

Spruces and other conifers lose older needles and quite often the older branches are completely bare. My conifers drop needles all year round with a peak in autumn. It could be lack of water as suggested above. If the rest of the spruce is growing and looking healthy than don't worry.

google "needle drop" or "needlecast"

the blue spruce is being hit hard by it.

Michigan state extension has some info on it.

Is it a concern in the Southeast?

good question-my two blue spruce here in SW ohio, that were beautiful even 3 months ago, have now started showing signs.

this was a few months back, they don't look like that now, sadly. I will add that my horticultural buddy will no longer plant them for people.
