Winterizing chrysanthemums

How do you go about winterizing the plant when it isn't freezing out yet? Mine have blooms but there aren't a lot that are opening. I don't want to throw out the plants, as they're in pots. What's the best way to do this?

In Minnesota? it's not possible. You could dig it up and bring it inside perhaps. I'm in Georgia and mine dies back when the temps go below freezing but it comes back in spring because we do not get frozen ground. Once roots freeze on a plant, that kills it. Mums aren't hardy above zone 7.
