I've been looking at growing winter lettuce in a heated greenhouse. Never tried it before as it seems a bit odd. I always associate lettuce with spring and summer. Can anyone recommend a particular type please?

The loose-leaf varieties do very well in containers here.

Varieties I've successfully grown in containers include Mizuna, Bibb, Butterhead, Black Seeded Simpson, Romaine, and Arugula.

By the way, I was introduced to Mizuna by @zigs near your location. It is very hardy, produces great, and has an interesting taste.

It definitely is one of those cut and come again veggies...see below.

Lettuce here outside supposed to do ok with a bit of covering. Spinach and Radishes the same.

Meadowlark I see Turnips trying to get it through my wife head frost changes taste. Converts starch to sugar.

Yes, turnips definitely improve taste with frost. Here they grow through the entire winter.

I've started off some lettuce and it's growing quite well, if a little slowly. Night time temperatures are dropping to 5/6c and I wondered when I should start a little gentle heating in the greenhouse.
