My carnations are looking a bit brown/yellow. When do I cut them back for the autumn/winter and how much do I cut since I don’t want to kill the plant and cut off all the greenery
You can cut them back now, since they've finished flowering to about 3" above ground or, if you don't mind the look, you can let them be until late winter/ early spring.
