At present we are in the middle of a 3 year Drought.

Thought of catching Rain Water found this to be a joke.

Got County Water with Chlorine and stuff in it.

Wanting to give my plants best I can which has to be County Water. So I'm collecting Barrels of it letting it warm up and set get the Chlorine out.

This will have to work right?

Let it set open for a couple days to degas, it won't be perfect, but better than before. Usually chlorinated water is not extremely toxic for plants, since it has to be usable by Humans....

Wow! How do you know it's the middle?

Sorry, I'll try not to be a smart Aleck in future.

Buried wood does help hold on to any water there is and release it slowly back to the soil.

Laclede Co Water Quality Report

They don't report the free chlorine level but I'd assume it is similar to everyone elses in the country which is around 3-4 ppm. I routinely water my garden with city water. I don't let mine sit in a barrel. I water straight from the tap.

The main thing about city water is the carbonates (yours is high) in it which makes the pH of the tap water higher than optimal and can also raise your soils pH level. Your water test says the pH of the water is 7.8 which I don't think I'd want to water with that unless you can lower it with something. Maybe put it in a barrel and mix in some vinegar for that reason and not because it has a little bit of FC in it.

You can add hydrogen peroxide to chlorinated water to neutralize the free chlorine. It doesn't take much. A few drops per gallon.

Was talking with another Grower and he is saying my water is crap.

I have some PH down. Plus main thing with the Barrel is raising the Temperature to have warmer water.

My plans are if it ever rains is to collect water and use Soaker Hose on my Garden.

You know i was going through this on Chlorine and was told there is not enough to do any harm.

Dig deeper if you use Chlorinated water over time the Chlorine will build up and be Toxic.

Maybe I should pay more attention to what my Worms like. They absolutely hated Chlorine.

Last time I had some Rain Water they like it. Don't really know if it was Chlorine or PH, but I dig mix some Peat Moss in which should have raised the PH but bad me didn't check but they are happy.

Peat moss is acidic which should drop the pH. The big issue with chlorine even at lower levels is that it will still kill beneficial soil bacteria.

From my experience watering your garden with chlorinated water is generally ok. Some plants will possibly develop brown leaf ends if used too much
putting your water in open barrels to allow the chlorine to evaporate is absolutely fine
I think considering watering practices irrigation methods to use the water more efficiently is the way forward ,not just for you but all of us in this changing climate

Peat should lower your ph. My local tap water is 7.3. I assumed that was the norm for any city water. I do have rain barrels too.

I stay away from any Hydrogen Peroxide because Microbs don't like it.
