Hello.

My name is Doug.

I am a chronic over waterer.

I have tried to quit cold turkey but I always return to my evil ways.

My latest victims are 2 dozen tomato seedlings. They were perfect until I kept watering. And watering. And watering. I can’t help myself. I don’ Think there is any hope for me. Maybe there is a 12 step method for people afflicted with this curse. I can only hope. ;)

They also have meters now you can get for $10 that you stick 6-8 inches into the ground near the plant, telling you on a meter when the soil is dried out. So long as you can keep the prongs halfway clean, they work and will stop you from overwatering.

Tomatoes are also one of those plants that will tell you when they want water, by physically slumping over. Wait until they tell you and record it in a log if you need to when you water them. I do this for ph adjustments, fertilizer, and plants that have asinine watering requirements-like aloe.
