This is my first time growing kale. I grew a lot sprouts in small containers on my windowsill. Often, many plants in one pot. I think I started growing them around March 1st. The sprouts are around 4 to 6 inches tall. I think they may be getting a little big for their containers.

I tried putting some of them outside around March 20th, but they died overnight. Days are warm enough, but nights were around 30 degrees F.

Now the nights are close to 40 degrees F. And the sprouts are little bigger. Can I safely plant them?

I grow about six plants yearly. They last all season by clipping the leaves. The plants get huge with little effort.

Kale produces all Summer if cut regularly. The leaves are removed from the rather tough veins and steam cooked until soft about 20 minutes. I find kale superior to spinach. From my six plants there is usually a pound or so in about five days. No bugs attack it in my garden so far.

Watch for spring flowers. I grow kale all winter here in Alabama, but it does not get past 10f normally. And @Durgan I must disagree with you about Kale vs Spinach. Kale is too plain for me when Becky makes her dinner dishes for me. Kale quiche is not on my menu anymore.
