We've had this plant in a sunny window for about a week and a half and the leaves look burnt. I just moved it outside to the shade today. I haven't planted it in the ground because the temperatures have been in the high 90s. I'm in Southeast Coastal Georgia zone 8b

Yes, it may have gotten burnt or extra-dry. High temperatures are fine as long as it gts watered regularly. It should do great there in shade or half-day sun.
