Almost overnight, the edges have turned completely brown?

The edges along my driveway burn every summer when it's hot. I don't know if that's what you have going on but that's the first thought that came to my mind.

Any reason why it's the edges?

For me, it's because the pavement gets scorching hot, and that hot pavement dries out the ground and plant life along the very edge. That may be what's happening with your bricks if you've had some hot weather. It's a normal occurrence around here each summer, especially whenever we lack rain.

If that's what's happening for you, watering along the edge may help, I don't know for sure. I always just leave it be since it's not worth my time, but my grass does regrow once the heat of summer cools down.

My grass suffers like that over the soak away, paradoxically it seems to get very dry. It grows back green and fine as soon as there is rain.
I put my hand on a turquoise pot in the garden yesterday, and it was too hot to touch, those dark bricks must get very hot. I used to go barefoot in my youth, and weather like this had to pick the light coloured paving stones.

We've had some rain recently and it hasn't grown back which is worrying

Plants always take longer than you expect, plus we had quite a bit of rain a couple of days ago, but it was so dry the earth just swallowed it.

In hot weather as well as the lawn I water this path down the right-hand side of the garden, stops the transfer of too much heat to the edge of the lawn.

The stone collects solar heat and drys out the soii and grass. You would need to water every day to keep the grass green. For the fun of it, lay a thermometer on the stone and see how hot the stone gets. You would be surprised how hot it gets and how warm the stone is at night too.

You have to be careful with ceramic pots too, if you have them on a patio.

The pots themselves heat up and they absorb heat by contact with the ground and that reflected from it.
All ours are on pot movers, except a few, on the patio steps next to the French windows, which are on large saucers.

I drilled a hole in the bottom so that in the winter rainwater doesn't gather in them. But in the summer I cover the hole with a dab of silicone, so water is retained that passes through the pot when they are watered. I'm presently watering daily.

I have moles and voles that do that to mine but they are easy to recognize. The spots are soft and pushed up.

Thanka for the reply. Will it grow back naturally?

No cleaner on pavement whatsoever

It will grow back, but if you have the time, you can hand water it to speed it up. It's definitely the heat(if its pretty hot in your area) from the bricks affecting your grass.
