This is the first time I've noticed a tree blooming in September. Our trees are starting to lose their leaves now. Currently, most of this tree has no leaves. The blooms are few and far between, but the tree is not being taken care of. I think it needs pruned.

This is what the flower looks like, and if you look behind it, you can see small red berries.

Here is a close up of one of the berries.

I have a picture of a set of green leaves, if you think that will help.

Thanks in advance! :)

I don't know, but I want one! A flowering tree this late in the season would be so cool. :)

Think Licenter's got it, a Malus or Crab apple.

We got a Hawthorn at Glastonbury that flowers at Christmas. Legend has it that it grew from the staff of Joseph of Arimathea.

When it was botanically investigated, it turned out to be an early variety that does indeed come from the Mediterranean area

I agree that it looks like a crabapple. But from that website, I found these:

American Crabapple has flowers that are the last of the Crabapples to bloom in mid-spring,
Why is it blooming so late?

Fall color is usually green to chartreuse, but can have some leaves that are bright yellow.
If you look at the leaves attached to the flowers, they are red. There are still some green ones, but most of them have fallen off.

 The fruit and bark pictured at that website look very much the the tree.

None of the above are even close. Kwanzan flowering cherry is what you are looking for.

Welcome to the forum, @Logan L. Johnson!! :)

I checked a couple websites, and the Kwanzan flowering cherry has flowers much like a carnation. They bloom in the spring, too. :(
