A friend of mine gave this to me and never told me what it was. It just popped the flower this morning. Any help is greatly appreciated! The closest I've seen is Small Whorled Pogonia.

The leaves look similar to Red Valerian (Centranthus ruber, or Valeriana rubra), in the Valerian Subfamily (Valerianoideae) of the Honeysuckle Family (Caprifoliaceae)., and native to southern Europe, northwestern Africa, and the Azores.
The 'flower' is remarkably out-of-focus, but it could be the beginning of a panicle of Red Valerian flowers.
